2. Our Business and Products

Vintage Top Shelf is a UK-based online retailer specialising in original, legal, age-restricted vintage printed publications sold as physical collectible goods. All products are pre-owned printed magazines, books, calendars or related print media from past decades.

Vintage Top Shelf does not offer and has never offered:

  • Digital downloads or digital content of any kind
  • Streaming services
  • Subscriptions or memberships with recurring billing
  • Live webcam or interactive content
  • User-uploaded or user-generated content
  • Custom content creation
  • Escort or introduction services
  • Counterfeit, reproduction or unlicensed goods
  • Drop-shipped adult goods

Every item sold is an original physical publication from its era, sold once, with a single one-off payment. There are no recurring charges.

3. VAT Status

Vintage Top Shelf is not currently VAT registered. No VAT is charged on any orders. All prices are shown and charged in Great British Pounds (GBP, £).

4. Age Restriction

All products sold by Vintage Top Shelf contain adult material and are strictly restricted to individuals aged 18 years or older. Adult catalogue content is not shown on this website until the visitor has confirmed they are aged 18 or over.

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You are legally permitted to purchase and possess adult printed material in your jurisdiction
  • You are legally permitted to receive such items through the postal or delivery system at your delivery address
  • You are not ordering on behalf of a person under 18

We reserve the right to apply proportionate age-assurance checks before dispatch. Any such check is an eligibility control for adult goods and is applied consistently across all payment methods. Orders may be placed on hold, refused, or cancelled where satisfactory age confirmation cannot be obtained. Where an order is cancelled before dispatch because age cannot be verified, a full refund will be made to the original payment method.

5. Contract Formation

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the relevant product(s) at the price stated.

Before placing your order, you will have the opportunity to review your basket and correct any input errors, including quantities, delivery address, and payment details.

A binding contract between you and Vintage Top Shelf is formed when we send you an order acceptance confirmation by email. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order before acceptance, including where:

  • The product is no longer available
  • We are unable to verify payment or identity details
  • We have reasonable grounds to suspect the order is fraudulent or made by a person under 18
  • The delivery destination is outside the countries we ship to
  • A pricing error has occurred on the website

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

6. Pricing

All prices are displayed in GBP (£). Prices are correct at the time of display and may be updated without prior notice. The price shown at checkout is the final product price, exclusive of applicable shipping charges. Shipping charges are shown separately before payment is taken.

7. Payment

Payment must be completed at checkout using the payment methods available on the website. Orders are only dispatched once payment has been successfully processed and confirmed.

Card entry and payment processing is handled entirely by our payment provider’s PCI DSS-compliant hosted payment environment. Vintage Top Shelf does not store, process, or transmit cardholder data on its own servers. Card details are never held by Vintage Top Shelf.

Your card or bank statement will show a payment reference of VINTAGE TOP SHELF or VTS GLASGOW. If you have a query about a payment appearing on your statement, please contact us at info@vintagetopshelf.co.uk before raising a dispute with your bank or card provider.

8. Order Screening and Fraud Prevention

All orders are subject to validation checks, including verification of payment details, billing address, shipping address, and eligibility. We may manually review any order before dispatch where age, fraud, delivery, payment, or legal eligibility concerns arise.

Factors that may trigger a manual review include:

  • Discrepancies between billing and shipping addresses
  • High-risk or inconsistent geolocation signals
  • Unusual purchasing patterns
  • Concerns about purchaser age
  • Payment authentication flags

If your order is placed on hold for review, we will contact you using the email address provided. If we cannot verify the order within 3 working days, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund to the original payment method.

9. Shipping and Delivery

Orders are dispatched from the United Kingdom. Estimated delivery times and available shipping options are displayed during checkout before payment is taken.

Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days of payment confirmation. Unless otherwise agreed, delivery will be completed within 30 days of the order date.

All orders are sent in plain, discreet outer packaging. The external label does not describe the contents as adult material.

We are not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services, customs processing, or events outside our reasonable control. Customers ordering from outside the United Kingdom are responsible for ensuring that importation of the items is lawful in their country and for paying any applicable customs duties, taxes, or import charges.

10. Returns, Refunds and Your Statutory Rights

Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these Terms. In particular, goods that are faulty, damaged in transit, misdescribed, or not as described retain full statutory protection under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Change-of-mind returns — magazine and periodical items

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, individual physical newspapers, periodicals and magazines may fall within the category of goods for which the right to cancel for change of mind does not apply (Schedule 2(n)). Whether a particular item falls within this exception will depend on its nature. Where we assess that the exception applies, we will inform you at the time of purchase.

Returns for eligible goods

Where the statutory cancellation right applies, you may cancel your order within 14 calendar days of receiving the goods. You must notify us of your intention to cancel within that 14-day period. You then have a further 14 days to return the item. Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty, damaged, or not as described.

Condition of returned items

Items must be returned in the same condition as received. The product photographs and condition description in the listing form part of the item description. Normal vintage wear already described in the listing is not a defect. Returns will not be accepted where additional damage has been caused after delivery.

Refunds

Where a refund is due, we will process it within 14 calendar days of receiving the returned item or acceptable proof of return, using the original payment method unless we agree otherwise.

11. Lost or Damaged Items

If your order arrives damaged or does not arrive within the expected timeframe, please contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date. We may ask for photographs or supporting evidence. Where appropriate, we may offer a replacement (subject to availability) or a refund.

12. International Orders

Customers ordering from outside the United Kingdom are solely responsible for ensuring that importation of the items is lawful at their delivery address, paying any applicable customs duties, taxes, or import charges, and complying with all applicable laws in their jurisdiction. We cannot guarantee delivery where items are delayed, restricted, or confiscated by customs authorities, and no refund will be issued in such circumstances unless the items are returned to us in their original condition.

13. Product Nature and Use

All items are sold as original physical collectible printed media. Customers agree not to use purchased items in any unlawful manner, including unauthorised reproduction or distribution of copyrighted material.

14. Intellectual Property

All website content, including text, images, branding, and design, is the property of Vintage Top Shelf or its licensors and may not be reproduced without prior written permission.

15. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Vintage Top Shelf website only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the site for fraudulent transactions
  • Attempt to access restricted areas of the website
  • Upload malicious software or scripts
  • Attempt to disrupt website functionality
  • Reproduce or copy content or product images without permission
  • Scrape or extract website data by automated means
  • Provide false information, impersonate another person, or use automated systems to place orders

Violations may result in termination of access and referral to appropriate authorities.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vintage Top Shelf shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits or data, or delays caused by postal, courier, or third-party services. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

17. Complaints

If you have a complaint about any product or service, please contact us in the first instance at info@vintagetopshelf.co.uk. We aim to respond to all complaints within 5 working days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to refer your complaint to an alternative dispute resolution scheme or to Trading Standards.

18. Privacy

Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

19. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be published on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the website after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

20. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.
